Pro-Progress

Whenever i think im being all 'productive' i take a glance over at my friends who are also getting it done - but on a whole different level.

Meet Nydia. Ive known her since my freshman year in highschool. Actually - i smoked my very first (and 3rd to last) cigarette (swisher sweet) with her by the lake behind my apt. Most recently, she's been the semi-motivation for my first round of spring cleaning, but most importantly, she's the Assistant Manager of Grants and VIP Outreach at the Marijuana Policy Project out in DC.

Check out the org.

Hello Hodogaya!

We've been keeping track of our "Fan base" by the wonderful help of Google Analytics and are glad to inform that our blog is getting hits from all over the world. Just observe the orange dots for proof! We even have a returning fan in the far away city of Hodogaya in Indonesia. How lovely is that! Next time our friend visits, we hope he can leave us a message.

632 hits ain't bad at all. Especially since it's from 81 different cities in the world. Woah!

Good Morning // 11

Today, i decided not to skip class - and so did Sallome. She and i went to Brooklyn's own George Westinghouse High School to pay some kids a visit.

Today's Subject: D R E A M S. we all got 'em, ya know.
The kids, predictably, were amazing. At first they were reluctant to acknowledge interest in the two of us.....until the jokes started going around. ha.

looking forward to the next.

Finally! New Kicks, again. x2

Batman once said, "Good things come to those who wait...". How right he is!

My lil cousin Kania (down in Orlando) saw my last post while en route to the Puma Outlet Store. Her friend just got a job there and was spreading the 70% discount love. Kania then transfered that lovin' to moi.
Tis my lucky day.

I love you Batman. And Kania.

Finally! New Kicks, again.

I've been a REALLY good boy about impulse purchases as of late. So, today, i ran 'round the bend to Puma with fingers crossed HOPING that there'd be a pair of kicks worthy of my greenbacks. Whew! Success + fat laces.

Nuggets & Noggins

Last night was yet another productive meeting with friends (im so glad im not an accountant) at my place. Twas some good, clean fun - we even broke out the frozen box of alternative chicken nuggets.

These two deserve it.
Sallome & Lichiban have their clever lil fingers in so many projects i dare not try to begin to describe them all. So, instead, check these 3 vitals:

1) Dope Swan
2) Lichiban's Blog
3) The Stoop

Enjoy,

Snap that picture already!

I was inspired by my buddy, Jessica, to post this video. Basically, I thought this guy was snapping a picture, but turned out he was filming us instead.

I'm such a poser.

Not only once...

but twice!

Friday Night Lights

Truly my favorite friday night variation: being home alone with a batch of new music and a whole lotta prioritizing to do. The weekend might just be my most productive time of the week. And when i take a break from work i watch shows about how other people get their work done. "rad!"

DVR just makes sense.Playtime carried over (gracefully) to the next morning.
....then there's saturday night.....friday night......saturday night......friday night.

Accidental girls night out

We were supposed to go to the movies last night but were so tired after a long week in Oslo that we decided the best thing to do was to booze it up instead. So our trip went to an Irish pub downtown where they had Quiz night. We joined forces with a group of other friends and associates and went on to make real fools of ourselves. We MIGHT have gotten 5 questions right out of like 50. It sorta reminded me of when I was living in London and a group of us from Miami Ad School would go to the neighborhood pub for their Quizzes and after the initial 2 or 3 times, they would just point and laugh "The Americans are here" when we entered the pub. I didn't have the heart to tell them I was Norwegian.

Anyway. It was a film quiz so I was convinced we'll walk away with a prize, but when I even mistook a George Clooney picture to be Jerry Seinfeld...I knew the game was over. I even lost $100 on that mistake, but Gary, Lisa's coworker who didn't stick around for the camera to pop up, decided he would give it right back to me as a wedding gift (but only if I shared with my fiancé and told him that Gary is really cool and will make a great friend someday, possibly if we ever decide to move back to Norway).
I also got to meet a very interesting English man named Eddie. Anyone who lets me call Paris Hilton from his phone becomes my friend. I love Paris and as Eddie proclaimed, "She is a very misunderstood girl". I'm sure Paris loves drunk dials from strangers like me. If this is how he parties in Oslo, I can't wait to see him in New York in a couple of months.

Here we are before the boozing started.

Still no alcohol in our bodies...
Let the quizzing begin
We also got to taste and guess which one was the Jameson. I think we lost that contest as well.
Eddie gave Lisa a massage at the bar. Which I found to be a very interesting way of drawing other ladies towards our table.

Lisa paid back the favor by giving him a spanking. And Lene was just plain drunk.

She was actually so drunk that she decided to start shotting red wine.

Lisa found that to be the smartest idea of the night and joined in.

All in all, I can't remember laughing so hard since my bachelorette party and it was a great way of kinda ending my stay here. As you all might know by now...I'M COMING HOOOOME! Very soon.

Tøfler and piano

I was invited to my friend and boxing partner, Ida's, home for dinner this evening and we had a wonderful time. Her boyfriend, Didrik, just bought a new piano and we tried to get him to play us a piece - which he promised he'll do...next time we come over. Rumor has it, he is quite the talent.

Also at the dinner, my friend Anne Christine, gave me my favorite gift of 2008. She is a crafts woman with the knitting needles and since my toes are always cold, she knitted me these wonderful slip ons ("tøfler" in Norwegian) to wear! They were in my favorite color and had the prettiest little buttons on the sides. SO cute! I was bummed when I was leaving and had to take them off to put my shoes on, but I love them so much I might even sleep in them tonight.

It's still pretty cold around here so Ida had Didrik light up the fireplace for us. Such a delicious night. On nights like these I get a little sad about leaving so many wonderful friends behind. But luckily they are all gracing us with their presence for our wedding, so it won't be too long till I see them again.
Here's the master knitter herself!

New Years Table /Sofre Haft Sin

I know you all must have been holding your breaths while waiting for me to post more about the new years celebration...ehem...So here are a few more images from a lovely celebration at my big sister, Atefeh's (a.k.a hostess with the mostess) house.

The first picture is her Haft Sin table. Haft Sin is the new years table and basically contains seven items that all start with the letter "S" and all have symbolic meanings. Here are the items up for selection (To make things way easier for myself, I copy-pasted directly from Wikipedia) ;

  1. sabzeh - wheat, barley or lentil sprouts growing in a dish - symbolizing rebirth
  2. samanu - a sweet pudding made from wheat germ - symbolizing affluence
  3. senjed - the dried fruit of the oleaster tree - symbolizing love
  4. sîr - garlic - symbolizing medicine
  5. sîb - apples - symbolizing beauty and health
  6. somaq - sumac berries - symbolizing (the color of) sunrise
  7. serkeh - vinegar - symbolizing age and patience
  8. sonbol - the fragrant hyacinth flower (the coming of spring)
  9. sekkeh - coins (prosperity and wealth)
It is also very important to have a bowl of goldfish to symbolize life and the sign of Pieces, which the sun is leaving. Every year for as long as I can remember I've stood in line at pet stores waiting to buy my share and I have even experienced stores being sold out!

Oh...and you guys MIGHT notice that we were short a couple of "S's", but my niece Frida decided she was gonna keep the sekkeh and sib for herself and we never got around to restock. On the next picture you can see her still mocking us with her hiding skills.

I also got the chance to hang out with my sweetness of a friend, Firuzeh. She is studying in France and we haven't seen each other since last summer, so it was a happy reunion. She was pretty as ever and I can't wait to see her again for the wedding!

Good morning // 10

I was starving and McDonald's was the only open spot to grab a bite last night. Everything was closed because it was the last day of easter, but I guess McDonald's lives by its own rules.
I just got home after a long night working and a long morning at the police station.
Posting will resume after a long nap and boxing class. You best stretch in the meantime.
