Wiggin Out Walruses

Last night The Queen and i headed to W A L R U S for their annual Wig + Karaoke Party. Its been a good long while since seeing these mighty folks at their best:
Bahareh and i started it off with a duet:

We completely tanked. I didnt know the lyrics at all but the dance moves were second nature to me.

Some role playing:
My favorite karaoke song of all time......"Rooooooooooooooxanne!"

Mike decided to take a drunken powernap mid-ballad. Deacon, however, carried on full-force:

And here's that 'Girls Gone Wild-esque' photo. ha.

We had a great time via W A L R U S.
thanks guys!

BMW 2002 Sighting // 02

Im at it again. This lil guy was on Carlton Ave. off of Lafayette on my walk back home earlier today.
Check out the faded BMW emblem. Either the owner chose not to replace it out of thrift OR plainly because it really does look sexy monochromatic.

hi 5 to that guy.

I love this girl

I am obsessed with her. I want to make her my friend. My best friend. My coolest friend.
Where are you, Tavi, and when can we hang?

Maybe it's because she reminds me of myself? Creepy, I know...Not the girl, but that I like her so much because she reminds me of me...Regardless, when I was her age I used to make tapes (wow, I feel ancient right now) and ramble on about what I think and what tickled my fancy and what upset me and such and give them to my friends to listen to. I had a red double tape boombox and sometimes, when I felt extra melancholic, I would play sad music in the background as I was taping my rambles.  Kinda the old version of vlogging, no?

Ps. Her mom is from Norway. We are destined to be friends. Seriously. And if I can't have her as my friend, I'm gonna make babies and raise them up to be just like her. I told you I'm obsessed. O b s e s s e d .

BMW 2002 Sighting // 01

Everyone's allowed to own 2-3 'dream cars' in their lifetime. The BMW 2002 proudly adorns the 2nd top spot on my list.

Eventually i'll post a photo of my very own 2002 fixer-upper. It's part of my 'Wife, 3 Kids, Brooklyn Brownstone' life plan. Im on schedule so far....
I spotted this beauty on 15th st & 10ave.

Elektrocardio, anyone?

I met Rucyl Mills through Lichiban a couple months back. I checked out some of her work and immediately applauded. Dope!

The more i investigated - the more she did: she's an interactive designer and artist, an inventor [check out the Elektro-07], a ridiculous producer, and THEN i was introduced to that voice...

Last night she performed at Alphabeta. Dope Dope Dope.Great times, indeed.
So much to look forward to.

Pretty People Make Pretty Music

...and babies. duh!

Earlier this week i got to see Sarah White and Mr Don Cuco perform at Southpaw. I can go on and on about how their performance gave me goosenipples but instead i'll let you try 'em out for yourself.
Here's a clip from that night's set. The song's "Wanna Be Wit You [ Kiva Remix ]" accompanied by Daru on drums and Kiva on keys:

The duo also graced 'The Best Day of Our Lives" with their love. On our wedding day they flipped Stevie Wonder during our procession...acoustic guitar + her voice?! C'mon.

I kept bobbing my head until i realized i needed to focus on not fucking up 'I....Do.'
That's correcto: Sarah's HIDING BLIND record is up for grabs on iTunes. Album art designed by yours truly.

Johnny & Hamburg

The other night i got a chance to video chat with a buddy of mine who's been in Chicago for a while now. Johnny, a copywriter, and i went to school together in Miami and then abroad in Hamburg, DE. This fucker's still one of the funniest dudes i know.

We had a great time in Germany, of course. I was then 21yrs old, living in another country for the first time, and bunking with a seasoned drinker from Buffalo, NY. uh-oh.

Here are some highlights of what i still deem my 'Coming Of Age' period.
We lived in a studio apartment, our landlord hated us (she even accused us of throwing beer bottles off of our balcony), and we had NO wifi.

I forgot what bet i lost but i got the inflatable for 3mos.

...all we ate was chicken breast (butter fried), potatoes, and bier. Oh, and sometimes pasta. Constipation was rampant.
Some weekends i ventured off with a buddy's camera.
This is still one of my favorite photos:
This is Mia, the 'other' fellow American from Miami Ad School. We held Hamburg's very first Bus Olympics.
Im always missing Hamburg.....and i NEVER made it to Berlin (next year, next year). The experience was invaluable to my design education and my drinking stamina.

win/win.
