Montel smoked himself to tears

Thanks to Jelsens old friend Nydia, who works for MPP, we got tickets to this benefit party last week. Jelsen had previous engagements so I brought Alexis with me instead. We thought it was a sit down dinner, so we came hungry. Very hungry. And when we discovered they were only passing appetizers, we stationed ourselves by the kitchen entrance with free drinks in hand and waited for the trays to come out.
We also got to see Kurt Loder ("MTV news, ten to the hour every hour"-dude!) speak about why he thinks medical marijuana should be legalized (heart warming stories sent to him by Nydia to share with us) . Montel Williams also did a speech and cried not only once, not twice...not three times...but FOUR! WTF?! First time , my eyes were a little moist too...but the way he kept doing it was so...fake! I couldn't believe what I was seeing, so out of line and dramatic! He needs to be back on TV asap.
At least he brought a pretty date.

Whenever i think im being all 'productive' i take a glance over at my friends who are also getting it done - but on a whole different level.

Meet Nydia. Ive known her since my freshman year in highschool. Actually - i smoked my very first (and 3rd to last) cigarette (swisher sweet) with her by the lake behind my apt. Most recently, she's been the semi-motivation for my first round of spring cleaning, but most importantly, she's the Assistant Manager of Grants and VIP Outreach at the Marijuana Policy Project out in DC.

Marijuanapparel.

Yesterday, on myrtle's wonderful B54 bus, my eye caught onto a pattern on a pair of this grown-ass-man's jeans. what was that pattern? marijuana leaves; embroidered...across the entire pair.

REALLY?

What's up with these adults strutting around proudly rocking either 2pac/weed-leaf tees (wonder if they know his lyrics), dangling sterling 'silver' marijuana necklaces with real 'diamonds', and/or (my very, very favorite) a weed tattoo?

Why is this so cool to them? these are far from rebelling highschool kids skipping class to spark a quickie - these people HAVE children, even adult ones! Who cares that you smoke weed? most of us do. it really isnt unique and sure as hell isnt proclamation-worthy. all you're saying is, "hello stranger, before i tell you who i am or what i do for a living - i REALLY need to express how much i love weed....via my clothing. awesome, huh?!".

NOPE

I wonder how many of these marijuanapperellers are involved in any legalization issues or activist organizations. i wouldnt bet on many; these classy cats are just tooooo cool for that.
